When you’re on the dance floor, with the spotlight shining bright, every detail matters. In dancesport, it’s not just about technique and energy; it’s about feeling in your own skin. Makeup plays a huge role in how we present ourselves and can give us that extra boost of confidence. Over time, I’ve developed my own routine that helps me achieve a long-lasting and striking look, and today, I’d like to share with you my tried-and-true tips and the products I use to shine on the dance floor.
My 10 Essential Makeup Tips for a Flawless Ballroom Look
- I start with my eyebrows, shaping them first, to avoid smudging the makeup later on.
- I’m not afraid to choose a darker shade because darker makeup visually tones down lighter colors, and additionally when your hair is sprayed, it appears darker as well.
- I do eyeshadow before face makeup—it’s easier to clean up any eyeshadow fallout that way.
- The best eyeshadow primer is actually concealer.
- If you’re using eyeshadow shields, place them just below your lower lashes, leaving a small gap at the outer corner for your lower eyeliner.
- I never rush when applying eyeshadow; I layer the colors multiple times until they’re blended exactly the way I want.
- Let the glue on your false lashes dry enough before applying them to your eyelids.
- I use both cream and powder products on my face to create a more dimensional look.
- When I want to wear red lipstick, I always start with a darker shade first, then blend the red from the center outwards to create a gradient effect.
- I always line my lips after applying lipstick to create a sharper and more defined shape.
